THIS MONTH... b
It’s issue two of Ryanair Magazine so predictably we’re on to the letter “b” in our alphabetical tour of Europe
April in Seville means it’s time to bailar (or dance, if you don’t speak Spanish). La Feria de Abril (24-29 April) sees a host of round-the-clock flamenco parties under the cover of colourful marquees, lit with paper lanterns.
From the grand midnight opening ceremony El Alumbrado (the lighting of half a million lights) to the adrenaline rush of the bullfights (we don’t necessarily support these, but they do take place), all you need is a glass of chilled rebujito in one hand and a plate of Andalucian tapas in the other, and you’ll be all set to join in the revelry. www..turismo.sevilla.org
Brussels Jazz Marathon (25-27 May) is perhaps the most insane weekend of jazz anywhere in the world, with more than 450 musicians filling the streets, squares and theatres of the city. And, it’s totally free, so you can spend your spare change on moules frites and a mind-boggling array of Belgian beers. www.brusselsjazzmarathon.be
It’s all about boats at Palma de Mallorca, as the island paradise’s port area Moll Vell hosts the International Boat Show (28 April-6 May). Even if you can’t afford any of the beautiful ocean-going craft, looking, as they say, is free, (or €5 for a ticket to get up close and personal). Best bet is to linger at one of the many quayside bars and soak up the atmosphere.
