Canary Islands: where’s hot & where’s not
Holiday-Rentals.co.uk reports that the Canary Islands are consistently in demand as year-round destinations, and attracted 18% more inquiries per property per month than the site average. The most popular island resort was Playa de las Americas in Tenerife. Similar site HolidayLettings.co.uk found that the most popular months for travel to the Canaries are December, October then August. After Tenerife, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura were most popular.

Investing in land
The general rules are the earlier you get in the market and the higher up the property chain you are, the more money you will make. So the first point of entry is investing in land, and at a meeting of the 14 biggest property companies in Spain and the Canaries, the leaders lobbied for more land to be made available a lot quicker for development or the price of housing would rise. Over the last five years, land prices have risen faster than property prices, for instance around Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the price of apartments grew by 25% while land prices rose by up to 200%.
