Ryanair Magazine editor Ramsay Short went to Vienna and spent €100. This is what he bought…
1 Les Langues de Chat
When in Vienna, visit the beautiful Demel patisserie on Kohlmarkt – once Emperor Franz Joseph’s official cake maker. Grab a coffee and some incredible chocolate, like these silken milk chocolate cats’ tongues that melt in your mouth. €19.20

2 Natural honey and soap
Leading Austrian natural store Wald & Wiese specialises in various types of honey and soap. They’re unperfumed, organic and, in the case of the honey, tasty as can be. I picked up these at the Neubaugasse branch. €2.50 & €3.50

3 Egon Schiele calendar
One of Austria’s famous sons, painter Egon Schiele’s work can be found at the lovely Leopold Museum in the museums quarter. If you can’t afford a quality print, take home this exquisite calendar of erotic sketches instead. €18

4 Vintage suitcase
The Saturday morning food and flea market, Naschmarkt, is so huge and sprawling – full of incredible fruits, spices, record stalls and antiques spots – you could browse and eat for hours. This vintage suitcase was a bargain at just €10.
5 Hip culture magazines
Vienna has a very happening arts, music, fashion and nightlife scene, and there are plenty of magazines reflecting the latest events and trends. Popculture “freezines” Pool and The Gap are a good place to get acquainted with it all. €0
6 St Stephen’s Cathedral coin
This memorial coin can be picked up at the top of St Stephen’s Cathedral tower. Though fairly useless, it’s a nice little souvenir of this Romanesque and gothic wonder. €2.50
7 Riedel wine glass
Austrian glassmaking dynasty Riedel make glasses worth drinking wine from, designing the shape according to the character of the wine. All oenophiles take note. €17

8 Secession gifts
Gustav Klimt’s famous modern art museum, the Secession, is a Viennese delight. See the artist’s 34m-long Beethoven Frieze in all its glory and take home a poster, postcards and fridge magnet. €17
9 Waxolutionists 12-inch
The Viennese are well known for their love of hip-hop, and there is a plethora of independent record stores, such as Substance on Westbahnstrasse (www.substance-store.com), where I picked up this 12” single from famous local rappers Waxolutionists. €10
