Destilleries et Domaines de Provence

We welcome our customers in our shop in the village of Forcalquier, they are free to taste any product of their choice!

Founded in 1898, Distilleries & Domaines de Provence is located in Forcalquier, in Haute Provence, in the South of France.

In the land of  Forcalquier, located in Haute Provence, listed as a Site of Remarkable Taste, Distilleries & Domaines de Provence have been making aperitifs and liqueurs from Provence for the past one hundred years.

Our company has inherited a tradition that is several thousand years old : harvesting medicinal herbs from nearby Montagne de Lure. Inheriting a concept that is local and unique : the tradition of travelling pharmacists.

Beginning in the Middle Ages, people who harvested medicinal herbs, became peddlers, and sometimes the herbs were already in the form of distilled products. In the 17th and 18th centuries, these people set up shops in many towns as general merchants or apothecaries.

In the19th century, some of them became pharmacists, while others became distillers, and some ventured into both fields. Others specialized in plant-based products.  

By the end of the last century, distillers were specializing in the production of liqueurs and aperitifs.

This is the birth of Distilleries & Domaines de Provence.

Today, Distilleries & Domaines de Provence proposes a complete assortment of fine specialties, from aperitifs and liqueurs to a worldwide known and awarded Pastis Henri Bardouin to a complete range of absinth products.
