Wroclaw: Visit
-
CENTENNIAL HALL
This bruiser of a building may be as easy on the eye as a Pacquiao left hook, but it is a masterpiece of engineering ingenuity and graces the UNESCO heritage list. It's worth buying a ticket to a major event just to see the sci-fi modernist interior.
-
ETHNOGRAPHICAL MUSEUM
A 10-minute stroll south-east of the old town is this pink and yellow treasure chest of tapestries, handicrafts and costumes from Lower Silesia. Of special note are the moving accounts of the mass resettlement of Poles in the wake of WWII.

PARK WODNY
Chances are that, if you're in Wroclaw on a winter break, there'll be at least one day when you'd rather not be out sightseeing. When the weather is stubbornly terrible, head to this modern aquapark for Jacuzzis, a wild river and wave machine

RACLAWICE PANORAMA
This vast panoramic painting eulogises the time Polish peasants whooped some Ruski behind. Carted all the way from Lviv, it occupies a special place in all true Poles' hearts. The ticket gets you into the National Museum, too.
