BRAZILIANA
Dispel the winter blues with a trip to this fun Brazilian joint, where traditional feijoada is served up amid potted palm trees and cheesy photos of tropical beaches. Perfect for plotting your assault on the local nightlife over caipirinhas.

CENTENNIAL HALL
This bruiser of a building may be as easy on the eye as a Pacquiao left hook, but it is a masterpiece of engineering ingenuity and graces the UNESCO heritage list. It's worth buying a ticket to a major event just to see the sci-fi modernist interior.

CZESKI FILM PUB
Thankfully, an encyclopaedic knowledge of Czech films is not required to rock up to this cheap and cheerful student bar lurking near the Rynek. If you've had all the tatanki (vodka and apple juice) you can handle, the bar also does a fine line in pancakes and pierogi.

SANKT PETERSBURG
Stripy upholstery, wood panels and liveried staff contribute to the upmarket vibe at this Russian joint. Splash out on the goose fillet à la Pushkin for 69PLN, followed by Catherine the Great stuffed plums.
