Take the ferry from the mainland to enjoy Ireland at its wildest and most starkly beautiful. The Blasket group of islands were inhabited until 1953, when only 22 residents remained, but nowadays are home only to sea birds and, occasionally, Ireland's favourite dolphin, Fungie.
