Joyce, Yeats, Beckett, Wilde… the list of famous Dublin writers is as long as the River Liffey. Among this museum's many treasures are a fi rst draft of Bram Stoker's Dracula, Brendan Behan's union card and Mary Lavin's teddy bear.

FRY MODEL RAILWAY MUSEUM
This impressive museum on the grounds of Malahide Castle features handmade models of more than 300 Irish trains along with stations, bridges, trams, buse barges, boats and even the River Liffey.

It may sound like a tourist trap, but this is a fun, engaging tour of how Ireland's favourite tipple has been made since 1759. There's even a free pint at the end of it.

KILMAINHAM GAOL HISTORICAL MUSEUM
Ireland's very own Alcatraz, from 1796 to 1924 Kilmainham Gaol (pictured) was the final stop for many an Irish rebel. Take the guided tour, which finishes at the stonebreakers yard in which Patrick Pearse and James Connolly were executed in 1916.
