The banks of Bremen's River Weser are set to explode in carnival spirit from 30 June to 4 July, drawing in around 150,000 people for live music, performance art, theatre shows, beer stalls and sausage stands as the annual open-air Breminale festival ushers in summer to the city.

One of six flour mills that once stood on the Bremen embankment of the river Weser, the Mühle am Wall dates back to 1699. The mill now houses a quaint bistro, which serves up a bargain business lunch.
